The Bacteria mod

The Bacteria mod is both a fun but equally useful and destructive mod. It’s as simple as the name suggests, it introduces bacteria to Minecraft. This could mean good or nefarious things but fortunately the bacteria is controllable if you know what to do.

You’ll need sponges to craft Must blocks. Then place those under at least one layer of water. They’ll eventually grow bunches of bacteria that you can then craft into colonies.

Once you have a few colonies you can place them below a block or blocks that you want them to be able to destroy. They’ll refrain from destroying anything else but what you choose. So for example if you placed a colony below a patch of water then activated it with redstone, the bacteria will quickly destroy all water in its path, leaving all else unharmed.

The replacer bacteria is another method of massive replication with this mod. It will eat whatever type of block is below it, then replace it with whatever block is above it. Again it needs to be activated with redstone. This is one that could get massively out of hand as well.

When something gets beyond your control, then the jammer is a necessary item. Once pressed, it will automatically stop any bacteria from continuing its spread. It won’t fix any devastation but it will at least prevent further issues from happening.

So definitely be careful with this mod but it can also be a great source of fun or pranking. Just be sure you back up your saves before trying this one on something valuable to you.

The Gender Mod

The Gender Mod gives you the option to change your gender within the game. It’s not simply a skin for your character but an actual model change. So with it most skins you apply to it should carry over to the female model. The mod even adds female sound effects to further improve the overall experience.

You’ll also get the option to play as a child. Simply choose that option in the settings and you’ll retain all of what you had before, only a bit on the smaller side!

You’ll also notice a change in zombies throughout the game. You’ll now encounter female zombies in conjunction with the male ones.

Now with this mod you can more accurately portray yourself whether in multiplayer servers or simply on your own. Changing gender/age is as simple as pressing ‘g’ and change the settings in game.

The More Player Models Mod

The More Player Models Mod adds the age old RPG element of character creation to Minecraft. It allows you to customize near every feature of your player and even allows you to play as any of the mobs in the game, including the Enderdragon!

The character creation screen is simply accessed by pressing F6. Once in, the whole creation process is easy to navigate.

You can adjust certain features to your default character such as a beard or wings and you can even change the scale of each of your limbs.

Obviously this mod would be better suited for a multiplayer server so each player can have their own, easily created, character. But it works just fine for single player use. You can even save your customizations so you can swap different character models without having to recreate your settings each time.

Zyin’s HUD

Zyin’s HUD is a fantastic addition to your screen display. It gives you a multitude of options to configure. From simple coordinate displays to elaborate mob info, this mod will seriously improve your Minecraft experience.

Mob info is a great addition for anyone knew to breeding or establishing an animal farm for the first time. It will give you the necessary info needed to breed by showing the type of food on the animals. The icon will disappear when they’ve been tamed or bred and will reappear when they’re ready again. Simply press the ‘o’ key and the stats will pop up automatically.

Durability info and Potion timers will put a display on your screen showing the life left in your tools as well as how long those potions have left before they wear off.

The Eating Aid and Weapon Swapper are quick options for streamlining your gameplay. Pressing F will switch your weapons between sword and bow. And pressing G will allow you to eat any food in your inventory even if it’s not in your hotbar.

Another great addition with this mod is Quick Deposit. It will automatically detect what’s in a certain chest and if you press X while opened it will select only those items to deposit. This works great if you’ve got a chest only designated for dirt or cobblestone, etc. Now you can keep things organized both quickly and efficiently.

Craft++ is a Minecraft Enhancement mod that aims to be more like an expansion of the vanilla world. It doesn’t feel quite like a mod and all the additions are natural and feel normal in the game. You’ll get new enchantments, items, and abilities that you’ll wish you had before.

The Blazing enchantment is a great way to quickly smelt blocks as you mine them. Add it to a pick axe and it works just like a furnace to automatically smelt the blocks as it breaks them. And the homing enchantment will aim right at your target and has 3 tiers. Tier 1 works at 32 blocks, tier 2 at 64 and tier 3 at 128.

Dynamite is now available and works just like throwable TNT! Just right click where you want to throw it and stand back!

Stone and Obsidian boats are stronger than the frail wood ones and Obsidian will work in lava.

Signs have also been completely reworked giving you some better flexibility when placing them. They won’t automatically bring up the text GUI when you place them. Instead you’ll need an ink sack to start writing on it after it’s been placed. You can even erase what you wrote with a sponge wipe!

And you can now make a crafting pad that allows you to craft right from your inventory. Simply right-click with it in your hand and the crafting GUI will pop up.

These are just a few of the many things you can do with this mod. Everything is configurable to truly make Minecraft the game you want it to be without being too overpowered.
